Notes
Huron County Social and Property services undertook a period prevalence count (PPC) over one week in March 2018. The PPC was done in partnership with local social service agencies that work with individuals experiencing homelessness.
As homelessness is hidden in rural communities, the PPC methodology allowed Huron County Social and Property services to connect with individuals as they access services. Confidentially was ensured. Participants received a per diem to participate in the survey.
The PPC was conducted using the provincial definition of homelessness and included people accessing shelters, in transition, couch surfing and those completely unsheltered.
Regarding the Health data: respondents were asked if they had any of the following health issues: mental health; addictions; physical health issues; chronic or acute health issues.
